The most important films coming at the end of this year in the cinema... Joaquin Phoenix is in the lead.

The summer movie season is officially over, and all of us movie fans know that the final months of this year are looking very promising indeed. Not only are several living legends set to return to the big screen this fall and winter, but some are returning with what looks to be their biggest, most ambitious, and strangest projects. years ago.

These are 5 films we can't wait to see throughout the remaining months of 2023:

Killers of the Flower Moon

After Dune: Part Two was postponed to March next year, the field is open for the big movie Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese's first film since The Irishman. in 2019, which is titled the biggest movie this fall.

Based on David Grann's acclaimed 2017 novel of the same name, the upcoming film explores the real-life Osage Nation murders that turned the oil-rich lands of 1920 Oklahoma upside down.

With a massive 206-minute runtime and an ensemble cast of one of the best actors of all time led by Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone, Killers of the Flower Moon stands to be another Scorsese classic that, like many of his films, reveals the breadth and complexity of a uniquely American tragedy. To say we are “excited” about it would be an understatement!

* It will be shown on October 20.

Priscilla

Based on Priscilla Presley's 1985 memoir, the new film explores the real-life relationship between its eponymous heroine and Elvis Presley.

Unlike last year's "Elvis," Sofia Coppola's film promises not only to adopt the perspective of Priscilla herself (played by Cailee Spaeny's Mary of Easttown), but also to address the more complicated aspects of her relationship with her rock star husband. B.

For Coppola, the past decade has been a somewhat quieter period, but her talent should never be underestimated and Priscilla looks set to re-establish her place among the world's greatest living filmmakers.

* It will be shown on November 3.

Napoleon

Few directors have proven themselves capable of crafting stunning period epics like Ridley Scott, and it should come as no surprise that there is a great deal of anticipation surrounding his latest film Napoleon. A massive historical epic that reunites Scott with Gladiator star Joaquin Phoenix, the film promises to explore Napoleon Bonaparte's (Joaquin Phoenix) rise to power and rule through his relationship with Empress Josephine (Vanessa Kirby).

Based solely on the film's first and only trailer to date, Napoleon looks as stunning and audacious as any of Scott's previous epics, and is considered one of the most anticipated films.

* It will be shown on November 22.

Poor Things

The film, based on the 1992 novel by Alasdair Grey, is a steampunk fantasy farce about a Victorian woman (Stone) who is unceremoniously brought back to life by a mad scientist (Willem Dafoe) and decides to run away with a corrupt lawyer (Mark Ruffalo); In order to try to find some freedom of her own.

The black comedy, which marks the first time Stone and Lanthimos have worked together since 2018's The Favourite, recently premiered at the Telluride and Venice Film Festivals, to widespread acclaim.

* It will be shown on December 8.

Ferrari

Any new film from Michael Mann, the director behind classics like Thief, Heat, The Last of the Mohicans, The Insider, and Collateral, will automatically earn itself a place on a list like this.

The fact that Ferrari, Mann's latest directorial effort, is also a passion project he's been trying to do for over 20 years only adds an extra level of anticipation to the film.

Led by Adam Driver, the drama promises to explore a specific period in the life of its eponymous protagonist, Enzo Ferrari, who already seems destined to become a natural addition to Mann's long line of male heroes with heart conditions. Rarely does a film feel like such a perfect combination of subject and author, which is why Ferrari is preparing to send out 2023 on a high when it hits theaters in late December.
